I think we are close to critical mass on seeing some pushback against corrupt, incompetent bureaucrats deciding every aspect of our day to day lives.

What is the end game here

Last hope for Democrats to blame DJT for something which he had no control over. Major dent to an unprecedented economy.

The ensuing blame game by the left will be unbearable leading up til November.

People will have income. Businesses are paying employees sent home (being reimbursed by government, of course) and the government is preparing to provide income for others.

You’re kidding yourself if you think this is over by April 1st. No one likes it. No one is happy. We are all going to have to learn how to deal with it and posts that encourage denial and resistance just make it that much harder for everyone when reality finally hits.

The vast majority of cases are asymptomatic or extremely mild. Most may not be even be aware they’ve already had it. That’s a lot of immunity that helps develop herd immunity.

But won’t they still carry it and give to others? Basically we are saying, if your immune system is going to react adversely to this we want to spread their infection out as long as possible. I guess the hope is the ones who do react adversely cannot get it twice.

Of course it won't be "over" by April 1. But seriously, there is only so long that the country can sit idle at home trying to wait this thing out. I think we can stand tow to three weeks of that, max. After that we need to be transitioning back to normal life, incorporating safe practices where possible. Maybe certain hot zones get locked down longer. This may lead to more outbreaks and deaths, but we are just going to have to take that. This thing will kill some Americans, but I predict it won't be anywhere close to the numbers being thrown out. We simply can't destroy our Republic over this thing. Our leaders need to start preparing us for this.

Destabilize the global economy.

Trump, Brexit, and the Hong Kong protests scared the globalist cabal and they went into attack mode.

I agree with all of this except how long this extreme social distancing will last. I’m just saying I expect it at least through the end of April. Two weeks isn’t long enough to have any impact and, really, some people are going to have to toughen up a little. Take your kids fishing, do home projects, take a ride in the country...

Basically, suck it up, Buttercup. Americans endured much worse for much longer before. People complaining about 2 weeks are ridiculous. Stop whining and figure it out.

You and I are saying the same thing but from different directions. Americans have endured much worse, but we've never shut down the economy, closed most businesses and put everyone out of work. We've faced these things and went about with our lives. We are going to have to do that again and carry on.

I honestly think it’s socialism.
People panic, look at the state for answers (ubi), and we bow at the idol of a powerful gov’t. This is prob a test run, and it’s worked better than the powers that be could have imagined.
We are a nation of pussies.

Coming from someone who obviously isn't losing their job or laying people off.

The ends always justify the means with you people.

Two weeks is one thing but mark my words the rumblings that this crap is going to last longer are already out there. The justification will be the increased number of positives we will get since we just started testing in LA (and only the sick people I might add due to lack of tests). Tens of thousand already have or have had it in the state. The asymptomatic positives that drive down the fatality rate won't be part of the story though.

Suck on that buttercup.
