Man, that seems terribly disruptive to the kids…

That’s true but it definitely helped me cut my obligation. The judge literally said so. This was Morgan County, AL.

Not mine....
Louisiana
50/50 custody, co-domicile
3 kids
$1625/mo + 75% of extraordinary expenses (tuition, sports, major medical)

Frick child support. Income based support is complete BS. It doesn't cost more to raise a child simply because you make more.

friend of mine from work is divorced, two young kids, everything is pretty much 50/50 except cs, he makes about $190k, she makes about $290k, he pays child support to her, he keeps a journal, kids are with him over half the time (Tx)

Then she paid for a significantly better lawyer.

It’s not disruptive for kids to be with their dad. It’s critical. Yes, it’s a lot back and forth but it’s better most of the time for kids to spend as much time with both parents as possible. I was not going to only see my kids 4-5 days a month. That’s bullshite. Besides we only lived 2 miles apart.

I have 50/50, pay all insurance and child care, and still send a grand over every month.

Actually pulling out means no child support is needed.

This is pretty much the arrangement for most everyone that I know that has been divorced with kids. Fortunately, it hasn't been many.
