Bourbon Street the weekend of Mardi Gras when the big parades are going on. Its not as crowded and you get to see some sights..

You don't see anything that makes Mardi Gras what it is. You can go to Bourbon anytime of year and see people acting wild.

Without a doubt the best time I've ever had at Endymion. There were so few people on Orleans Ave that the riders didn't even bother opening bags of throws. Cups, footballs, beads, you name it. We couldn't take all the stuff we caught home.

Technically, yes. Many people mistakenly refer to the Endymion Extravaganza Orpheuscapade Bacchus Bash as each krewe's "ball". Most krewes hold a coronation ball separately from the end of the parade party.

Bacchus Bash is the open block party before the parade. Used to be at Ernst Cafe but believed it had moved around the corner the past couple of years. Bacchus Rendezvous is what you're talking about.

Yep I remember that vividly; it's hard to root for bad weather but the crowds the last couple years have been unbearable.

The overflowing porta johns really lose their appeal after you hit a certain age. Glad we got to experience it in our twenties, but now in our mid-thirties, no thanks. You can have that chaos.

Sorta. It's just very hard to get tickets. I got in with a booty call who had strong connections to the event. I ended up hating it, because she followed me around like a puppy dog, while there were other women there that I had been trying to hookup with. And she was boring with zero personality (sex also wasn't very good, and she had tmj).

I was also supposed to drum in the early parade on Sunday (okeanos, so?). The party ended at 3-4, and we had hell getting a cab out of there (no Uber yet). She also made me bang her that night. I'd been doing Molly all night, and am already a slow finisher, so I didn't get to bed until 6, and had to wake up at 9 for the parade that morning.

Last thing I remember Sunday night was breaking away from my friends, and ending up on bourbon st drumming with random guys free styling over my beats, with random frat boys buying me beers and putting cash in my pockets. I somehow ended up with more money in my pocket than when I left the house that morning.

But Mom's wasn't quite the naked, hedonistic event that I heard about. That, or it's become more tame over the years. Though I'd still go again if given the opportunity.
