Why don't more black people just open businesses? Is there something legit holding them back?

Another question, why is it that only orienttals and Middle Easterners open up stores in the hood?

In short, the unicorporated part of Baton Rouge wants to become it's own city. Just like Central and just like Zachary.

Zachary has been incorporated since 1889, and no love for Baker?

Actually, businesses, hospitals, etc requested to be annexed into BR. You people.

The hospital representatives admitted at the Met-Co meeting for this that they were approached by the Mayor's Office concerning annexation

The City of St. George would not be seceding from anything. It is a totally unincorporated area. The city-parish however, uses tax revenue from this area to pad its general fund to fund services that the citizens of this area do not have access to.

As a petition signer and somewhat a supporter of St George I’d like for you to tell me what services we are funding that our area does not have “access” to?

That’s a part of my problem with this. Both sides just make up shite.

I know they have some tax exemptions. Not sure if property taxes are one of them.

Fire protection from a Class 1 Fire Rated district (St. George Fire District has a Class 2 Fire Rating).

The City/Parish government transfers funds from the unincorporated EBR "sub"budget to the City budget, enabling the City of Baton Rouge to pay the additional expenses necessary to maintain the BRFD's Class 1 Fire Rating.

People outside the city limits pay $102,299,240 into the General Fund of the City-Parish. It is spread out to all expenses including City Court, City Police and City Fire Department to name a few.

The good part of Baton Rouge wants to distance itself from the shitty part of Baton Rouge by creating its own city

This is very similar to when to when the San Fernando Valley attempted to secede from Los Angeles. I believe it actually went to a vote and was defeated. If it had passed, the Valley would have been in the top 5 cities population wise. And they had all the money like the BR situation.
