Is $1,000 for collision and comprehensive good for a 2011 Ford?

Do you want to pay first $1000 bucks out of pocket?

Depends what you want, if it's a lower monthly note then $1000 is a good deductible. If it's less out of pocket expense after an accident, but a higher monthly rate, then no it's not as good, but better than a $2k deductible.
I think $500 is the best balance.

It depends on what you can afford. If $1000 is easy to pay out of pocket, then that will lower your premium.

It's all about the risk you are willing to accept. Lower isn't necessary better.

I generally have $1000 deductible on my auto insurance...I have filed very few claims in my life and just hate paying insurance.

Agree on the $500 deductible for collision. $250 for comprehensive. The biggest thing to watch is the windshield replacement policy on the deductible for the comprehensive.

I've run the numbers. After 3.5 years, I am ahead.

Just replaced the windshield in my wife's Pilot for $300 through safelite. I didn't use insurance. My deductibles are $2000 but my policy is $900 less a year on 3 cars so it's pays me to keep the higher deductible. I wouldn't make a claim for anything less than 2k anyway.
