re: What is a "good" ACT score?

I got married and needed something stable to put food on the table. When I couldn't find something (and in hindsight I failed to apply myself like I should have, and didn't make the connections I should have in college) I took whatever I could get that wasn't minimum wage. I worked in a fab shop until they screwed me over after I did a huge favor for them. Then someone I knew told me about a position that had opened up at a plant, so I applied for it and got it.
It was good money and great benefits and I had a kid on the way. I had to do what I had to in order to provide.

I'd say upper 20s and above are respectable enough to tell people when you're in high school and feel good about yourself.
28 I guess.
28 I guess.

Clearly the exam has some merit, and statistically getting a higher score is a decent indicator of success in college. One random example doesn't mean much.
Here's another: I got a 32, but I know that doesn't really mean anything seeing as I have a 2.6 GPA in college.

I got a 32, should I post a pic then? I beat my two oldest brothers who each got a 31, so I was very happy. My only goal was to beat them.
Regarding anecdotal evidence from people saying the test was meaningless, I would say all the people I went to school with that scored well were unquestionably smart people and went on to do very well. Our valedictorian out of a class of 200+ got a 35 before going to MIT and getting an engineering degree followed by an MBA from UT-Austin. My brothers and I turned out pretty well also, which is apparently in spite of our high ACT scores according to many on this board.

Yeah, I didn't get my undergrad until I was 28. I was never really cut out of school as my 2.8 high school gpa demonstrates.

My nephew, who is in 8th grade, made a 30. Schools are coming out of the woodwork trying to talk to him. Already has two full paid scholly's on the table.

Well, I don't truly believe that, and I don't know that, just like you don't know who is lying and who isn't.
I choose to pose an angle that have most of these posts being believable. I bet more are true than what you think.
It's a message board. Some people can separate this from real life. I'm not making any decisions on TigerDude69's claimed ACT score. Relax.
eta: And just to repeat myself, "most" is not close to an accurate description of the scores posted here. Less than a handful out of 8 pages it looks like.

Why aren't you in college right now ? Someone with those scores should fall out of bed and get a degree ..

I have a degree. History with a concentration in secondary education.
I got into the teaching field and became so jaded with the system that it killed any desire I had to teach.

I made a 31 composite. 35 in English. 33 in either science or social studies. My math brought me down that time.
exact same as me

I always scored in the 30-35 range in English but my math was usually around 26

I have a nephew that took it in 4th grade and got a 31. He graduated college at 13 and is a professor at MIT with tenure at 15.

If I could go back and tell myself what to do...break up with any and all long term girlfriends, get your engineering or chemistry degree, go overseas, make connections.

I took it in 1980. I think it may have been different back then. I made a 28,
I can tell you that if you made a 29 back in 11980, you blew the doors off that test...

there is a hell of a difference between the average score back then and today....

I would post a picture of his score but I just texted him and he's in bed. Sleeping.
