Also, just browsing real estate listings, was there ever a time worse for house design than the late 60's to early 80's? Holy crap that era's houses are aweful. Especially ranch style houses with low pitch roofs.

Not necessarily trendy, but certainly still in many homes today... giant garden tubs.

I don't think you know what a gable is. Almost all of those look hipped to me.
