OP, you’ve got to be in your 40s or 50s, right?
So why do you care? Do you really want to be in a club like TEXAS Club or Triple Nipple at this point in your life? I enjoyed that shite when I was in my 20s. But it’s passed me by at this point.
And if I did get the desire for it, BR is the last place Id do it.

Why do people consider 40 old? Is it some sort of rite of passage once you hit 40 that you can no longer enjoy life and have to be confined to your home?

I agree it may be a millennial thing. I agree with the original poster to a degree. The nightlife in BR isn’t that good but for the opposite reason. There’s too much competition. I know a couple of places that are always fun on the weekends but nothing really exciting happens during the week. Yes, you can go to The Bulldog on Wednesday but I’m not sure if much else that is really busy.
I used to be a fan of a pool hall that closed down many years ago. It wasn’t in the best part of town or the worst. It always had a decent mix of people with zero frat guys in there. There was a jukebox that eventually turned to the digital one. It was always a good time. It went out of business about 5 or 6 years ago. A couple of my favorite places burned down.
The truth is this. There’s very limited amount of places that have live music whether it’s a small one man band or a full set. That’s what BR is lacking. A place like that in a good location will never go out of business. Also, the new genres of music don’t really allow for people to karaoke. That’s something else that drew people to certain places on certain nights of the week.

You and I must be the exact same age.
I think BR passed a law that you could only open a bar / nightclub in an existing location, and no new establishments would be licensed in new locations...At least that is what I remember. Sort of blew up the nightlife as bars went out of business..
I find my kids have no interest in standing around in a bar, as I honest to God dont think they have a clue how to talk to people that are not in their friend group. They go out to eat, or hang out in my den drinking wine and watching movies....its a different world and does not hold a candle to what we knew.BR was safe, and it was a blast, in the 70's and 80's.

A long ago girlfriend used to drag me to these way back in the 90s and it was one of the biggest favors anyone has ever done me. It translates to a lot of different types of music.

I’m 40 and haven’t been to a dance club anywhere in well over 10 years. Besides meeting a buddy a time or 2 after work at the Ice House on Airline for a couple of post-work beers, the only “bar” I’ve patronized is Olive or Twist because his buddy owns it and let’s us try out new cocktails. “Going out” for me and my group is having beers and watching games at Walk-Ons, BWW’s, or Plucker’s type places. Maybe Superior or whatever Ninfa’s is now if we’re feeling spicy. I think that’s the typical progression.
However, once or twice a year, I would absolutely love to throw on my best Saturday Night Fever attire, go disco dancing and get my boogie woogie on. Dancing is fun as frick and one of the only things I miss about going out in my early/mid twenties.
