He will be back and he will be on TV before you know it and within a year no one will even remember he was gone. His brand is solid enough and he still has enough cash to get going again.
He is in litigation with Dudley Debosier and at some point he'll settle that for a nice chunk. I'm not sure if Tommy will practice again but than again he just might.
I've known them since Catholic High as well as a few others that probably post here or at least lurk.

Would come into restaurant I worked at and order the "E Special".
I always called him "E. Eric Gaytard".

Why is he suing them?

Case managers settling cases
Literally everyone did this back in the day from what I understand. One lawyer with 7 paralegals doing all of the work.

quantum meruit for the fees on the existing cases when he got defrocked. DD took over all the cases, and rented his building, I guess.
I saw where Pittinger got reinstated. Curious to see whether EEG will get back in. It is way harder than it used to be, though it is also easier to be disbarred.

His friends do call him "E". He went to high school with my dad. I've met him a number of times, and he's never remembered me so take that for what it's worth.
I was told that basically he wasn't doing anything that anyone else wasn't doing, but that he pissed off the wrong people and it got him disbarred. I don't really believe that to be the whole truth. I've also been told that he's terrible with money.

Had a friend who was a barista at Starbucks and would come in and pull the same shite. Some kind of latte he would call it the "E", if someone there didn't know what he was talking about, he would go into hysterics and begin berating them.

Sounds like a narcissist.

Back to business as usual, under-settling cases. Insurance companies love him.
Somebody gotta pay for all that TV cult of personality.

I sincerely hope that no one ever remembered what it was. Like, even the people who knew what it was...I hope they pretended not to know. What a sorry frickstick.

This. They are arguing over the formula for what the cases are worth. Pittinger has settled with them E has not.
I'm pretty sure they sold the building although originally they just leased it.

He filed a few months behind Tommy so he's thinking he's a few months out. It will be interesting. He pissed a lot of people off but on the other hand he paid his dues more so than a lot of people.
And as above-insurance companies love him and his brand is so entrenched that what 5 years down the road a message board is talking about him? I'd put my money on a comeback.
But he'll have to work his arse off to catch Gordon. I've known him since U High as well and Gordon is as slick as he looks.

Spencer Callahan is the king of the BR ambulance chasers. E Eric and Gordon McKernan are just fighting for second place.

but do you give him the secret handshake?
We had an older lawyer here in Alexandria get defrocked for the same reason, but his paralegal was just out of control, and he was weak. Guirard had an actual system that rewarded paralegals to settle cases for less than the going rate, before they ever got to a lawyer. That actually harmed clients, though they were all moan and groan chiropracter type cases. I'm not sure with the Supremes' current impetus on public protection that he can get back in. We shall see.

That whole business seems cheesy. And expensive. Running all that advertising can't be cheap. And the more people who are in the business, the fewer cases you get, and the more you have to advertise.
Not sure that even if I were a lawyer I would want to be running around town known as the big "H."
