I keep hearing some salty woman on the radio saying the City of St. George isnt going to give city services like "flood Protection".

Im wondering what service is this and what does the City of Baton Rouge do?

Its an exaggeration of what the City-Parish Public Works Department currently does related to the stormwater mitigation.

While a "truth" it's not wholly accurate. So it passes the "test" to air but isn't rooted in reality.

Living in south Louisiana comes with the risk of flooding any day of the year with or without "flood protection". Every resident needs to just boot the frick up and buy flood insurance just like we buy homeowners and auto insurance. You hope you never have a fire but you have insurance if you do. I hope I never flood but I have insurance in case I do.

People need to quit bitching about what the local and federal governments are and are not doing about flood protection and just get the damn insurance. No man-made prevention effort is going to stop a big enough flood.

Since the Historic Flood of 2016 the City Parish denies that there exists severe risks of flooding from rainfall in the parish.

Didn’t you know that it’s the city parish that’s responsible for our first class drainage and pumping system? The one that keeps the entrance to Santa Maria cleated regardless of rain amount

Huh?

Fred Railford's on the damn TV nearly every month talking about the cleaning of drainage canals.

Nothing, but they roll over to developers who make flooding worse, or cause areas that never flooded to flood in order to protect houses constructed in flood-prone areas.

A levee

That would the the USACE.

You said they’re denying there’s even an issue. I pointed out that they clearly know there’s an issue.

Now you’re moving the goalposts.
