From what I can find online it looks like the front fender, front bumper, headlight, fog light, turn signal, and other assorted stuff will be enough to total it

You are nuts if you want that totaled. Given your plans to buy a new vehicle when you finish residency, I would hope for them to cut me a repair check. Bank the cash, drive that thing until you finish, sell it to someone off Craig's List for a couple of grand and use that plus the ins money as your down payment on the new car.

Dang. Doesn't look that bad at all. We talking damage to the suspension or just a fender in the way? Because if it's just a body part in the way of the wheel, grab a crowbar and my original statement stands.
