My buddy said that the normal is 20% now. Did the standard 15% changed recently to 20%?
Not a chance. I may give 20% if the service is absolutely impeccable. But getting my order right and keeping my drink refilled doesn't require so much skill that it should be rewarded with an excessive amount of money for successfully using that skill.

I hate you.

Tipping threads always bring out the chodes on both sides.

Usually 20% on the SUBTOTAL....I don't tip my taxes.

I do ~20% and then round up to the nearest dollar. It's less to do with being generous and more to do with the fact that it's easy.
Only women pull out their phone calculator to do the exact math. Just give the server kid an extra buck and get on with it.

Calculating 15% in your head is ridiculously easy. Tip calculators are the ultimate in laziness.

What do you tip at a restaurant
Depends on how good the drinks were

18-22% depending on rounding. Shitty service has received less than a dollar, though.

20% normally. Less if crappy service.
Posted on 3/11/17 at 7:49 pm to PeteRose
20% usually every time at a sit down restaurant
15% when using my company credit card due to lame company rule
0% on to-go orders most of the time. If a huge to-go order or hostess/bar tender is friendly and such, 10%
12% on Waitr App
15% for pizza delivery

I'll tip 20% on the food pre tax, depending on how much alcohol is on the bill. I'm not tipping 20% on a $100 bottle of wine, sorry. I usually tip a few dollars on alcohol but not 20%.
