Excercise 3 or 4 days during the week. Sleep better as a result.

Water plants, cook dinner, watch some news, clean kitchen. There's plenty to do.

You’d swear no one drinks on this board after reading thru all these posts.

I would bet that there is just a little bit of bragging about drinking on these boards...most of the people here seem to have jobs and are probably in bed by 9 PM most week nights and too busy on weekends tending to yardwork and family to spend an inordinate amount of time drinking...

Honestly, when I cut it off, I feel soooo much better. Mental clarity and mood improve to.

An alcohol-free life is much better in the long run.

No fun. Sorry.

I really only drink on the weekends. It’s a leisure thing to me. I know baws like to crack open a beer after getting home or some like a glass of wine with dinner or a whiskey at night but I’ve never been a 1-drink type of person. If i have some wine I’m gonna want a couple glasses, couple beers, couple whiskeys etc which is why i just prefer drinking fri-sun when i can truly switch off and enjoy it. Im not gonna get much enjoyment out of drinking on a random Tuesday and possibly feeling like shite Wednesday morning.

I coach my son's baseball several Months of the year. Have 2 other kids that also have activities/practices etc... Rare nights we have nothing booked I'll go for a walk or jump in the pool in the summer, take my youngest to the playground or whatever.

Do you have any sports talent? You could sign up for a local adult team, although a lot of those teams go out for drinks after games. You could sign up to coach a local youth sports team like Little League. They are always begging for coaches. That will eat up a lot of your evening time with games and practices.

I don't drink ever... but drinking and me are incompatible with life.

My kids aren't grown yet, lots of times I'll take a nap for 45min- 1 hour before I go get my youngest so I am not so tired but I get up at 4:30 most mornings. Cooking for them and getting them ready takes up most of my night.

I started reading more.

But that was more to get down my screen time. I still sit on the back porch and read while drinking.

It sounds like the problem is that things are just more fun with a few beers. If you are worried about alcohol intake, what about having one or two after work? Having a couple of beers a day is not significantly unhealthy.

To pass the time, I generally do things that keep my mind engaged like reading, listening to audiobooks/podcasts, etc. But for you, it may be different. It sounds like you enjoy the outdoors, so I would look for something that's outside. Gardening maybe?

Also, if you are mainly focused on drinking less, marijuana can be a safer substitute. Many may disagree, but I know personally that the boredom/desire to drink is lot weaker if using THC. Moderation of course as with everything.

Workout, eat with my girlfriend, play video games, binge watch youtube, watch a show, go for a drive, go for a walk, watch sports, work on a hobby, read a book, use my telescope and look at bright things in the sky, sim race on my pc, flight sim on my pc, look up and try a new restaurant, go look for new hobbies online if I am bored. There are a lot of things you can do and learn without booze. I really only drink in the fall for LSU games and I use the rest of the year as my sober period (for the most part).
