i really want a lower bowl ticket and im willing to pay $500 if i have to. But should I go ahead and buy on stubhub or wait to buy off a scalper...?

the stubhub fees suck arse but at least it's a guaranteed legit ticket and not a fake or duplicate

Not always. Was a duplicate for a concert ticket I bought one. They refunded the money, though.

Stubhub and UT are an official partner. Meaning you have to upload your barcode number to the system in order to sell and it's authenticity and lack of duplication is verified by UT ticketing system. Which is why they can charge you those fees. It's an insurance policy on your ticket.

How risk adverse are you?
StubHub will most probably be more expensive but is guaranteed.
Interaction with a scalper is more risky and could be illegal (I don’t know the local laws around UT/Austin).
The potential to save maybe only ~$100 per ticket by using a scalper would push me to StubHub.

Buy one for cheap from a scalper halfway through the first quarter. That's my plan.

If scalping I try to buy from people who don’t look like scalpers.

Not exactly.
Yes, they are an official partner like they are with LSU.. but you dont “have to” upload your barcode from the system or anything.. i sell a lot of LSU tickets, and a lot of times i do sell them on Stubhub through my LSU account.. but sometimes i dont, for instance like a few weeks ago when i posted some tix for sale on SH but they hadn’t shown up on my LSU account yet so I couldn’t list them that way.. you can use either method.. either way Stubhub insures them because they have my credit card and if my tickets dont work, *I* get charged whatever the buyer paid.
