Even on the west side of Houston?

It's amazing what LSUPD is able to create in the middle of what is essentially a dying city. Outside of that freak incident two weeks ago, LSU is incredibly safe.
LSUPD was considered a joke when I was in school. It's amazing what a professional outfit they have turned into.

Baton Rouge issue is not culcha, or even anything LSU can do. Every southern city is dealing with the scars of Jim crow and dem voting poor lower class.
Baton Rouge's issue is infrastructure and planning. It takes me less time to go 20 miles in Houston at 5 than it did some Fridays in baton rouge to go 1/4 of that distance
I think it is a little of both but agree with what you're saying. The thing with LSU/BR comparing it to Alabama is Baton Rouge is (arguably) the primary city in the state (Birmingham), the capital (Montgomery), and the State School (Tuscaloosa) all combined into one. Alabama has the benefit of being the #1 thing in its city. There aren't a bunch of corporations they need to attract to come or stay around. There aren't (as many) politicians pockets to line. And there isn't a concern of losing population to surrounding counties/municipalities. LSU has to battle all of these issues and balance them, which can be difficult when your segment of the population (students for example) isn't the priority.

Old south baton rouge is a blight and needs to be torn down and built back up.
This process is actually somewhat underway. It's a slow-moving process that won't happen overnight, but you'll see the Nicholson/Highland corridor improve greatly over the next decade or so.

Liberals that dominate LSU are speeding up the demise of BR every time they vote.

They tried a few years ago, but failed to kiss the ring of the area's state rep, so the project died. There are also plans to clean up that area, but it must be done with deference to the area's "culture."

So, what you are saying is that LSU is maintaining while everyone else is growing? Good point
Actually the city of BR is not growing. The parish is.

Once the water campus opens I would expect the housing in that area to improve.

I was referring to other SEC schools growing, not BR.

What does this even mean? And you know F King is a Jindal cronie, right?

Can they do anything to stop the Council on Aging directors from writing themselves into the wills of people they are supposed to be caring for?

F King was in line for an appointment under the Hillary administration.

LSU can force people to live and spend their money in the city. Other than that I got nothing.

Allow North Baton Rouge to become its own city.
Much of the rhetoric I've read says that people in NBR need to support black own businesses and not to do business with white businesses.
So let's take it one step further and allow them to keep their money inside their city.
We'll see how that goes.
This...without the tax base in South Baton Rouge, NBR would whither and die on its own. Of course, then it would be white man's fault once again!

I couldn't agree with this more. Why doesn't NBR just become it's own city if its residents don't like the situation? Start your own city, collect taxes and do your thing instead of always bitching that you aren't getting enough tax money. Gravy and his crew are a bunch of ballers, they should be able to support the new city from a tax standpoint.
There is a Charleston and North Charleston. Plenty of towns have done it.

The Nicholson corridor will be pretty nice in a decade or two once the Water Campus is complete and drives the property value way higher. Nicholson needs to be 4 lanes from I-10 all the way to Bluebonnet. That road makes zero sense. And why are so many roads in BR half concrete on one side and half asphalt on the other? Is BR that cheap?
