quote:eh, it was a part of containment. We made it our mission to contain communism in Asia after china went red. At th end of the day, we didn't fully understand our enemy and on top of that, we fought with our hands tied behind our back in order to keep the war from escalating. We kinda fricked the south Vietnamese over
Was a stupid pointless retarded war

We could have easily won this war just like we could have won the Korean War but our congress and higher ups wouldn't let us advance into north Vietnam with our full force.
Same with Korea general MacArthur was only 30 miles away from the Chinese border when he was ordered to pull back allowing China to send troops in to help North Korea.
Looking back we were stupid not to take both North Korea and Vietnam.
Screw any of the hippy make love not war pussies who dodged the draft, used family ties, or those who treated the troops like shite.
Signed by a Vietnam vets son.

I think if the nation's leaders wouldn't have been pussies about it we could've ended that war much sooner.

He also wanted us to invade the Soviet Union in 1945. He was a great general, but was a fricking war monger

I'm not positive about his thoughts on Soviet Russia. But Patton damn sure wanted to invade Russia.

So did Winston churchill. I have no idea how we got through the cold war without world war 3. It really is a miracle

So the world wouldn't be better off now if China, Vietnam, North Korea was a democracy over socialism.
Yeah and it was Patton who said that since we already had our army over there we might as well go ahead and attack Russia.

bullshite war after bullshite war, after bullshite war. Will America ever stop falling for the same bullshite? Doesn't seem like it.

Why fight a war you're not willing to win?

Yeah those who dodged and then spit on those that couldn't dodge were real American Heros.
I didn't say to nuke ummm I said we shouldn't have been handcuffed but allowed to win the wars. The only reason nukes were used in Japan was because everyone knew the japs would all fight to the death. 500000 to 1000000 estimated to die if we invaded.
We didn't need nukes in Vietnam or Korea just the dumbasses over here to quit dictation war though politics.

And you don't need to use nukes to scare Russia into starting a world war

Once again the US sticking their nose in someone's business where it didn't belong. Boy we seem to be real good at it even now.

I think the government probably was willing to win the war, but I don't think the citizens of the US were willing to back it and win it in the long run.
But I'm not sure if the war was a total loss either. It seems like it may have become a war to contain a different way of thinking rather than destroy it..
Same as the wars we are fighting today.
I think the age of nuclear war definitely made a difference in the way wars are fought today.
Sacrifice some pawns here and there, and prevent the kings and queens from destroying the chessboard.

I believe most of that was propaganda anyway. But anyone who would spit on a Vietnam Vet needed his arse kicked.
