Many years ago I convinced my wife that buying gifts for each other is a dumb idea that just makes the Holiday season more stressful. I also convinced her that we shouldn't buy for our parents and siblings. We only buy gifts for the kids. Holy shite is Christmas more enjoyable now.

So pretty much the same shite I said except you're too lazy to steal a book?

Stealing causes me stress. Maybe you missed the point of my post. Or maybe stealing relaxes you? Either way, we have had a a communications breakdown.

We used to do this but then someone advised me it's important for our kids to see their parents give each other gifts. So, now we do.
I want some stainless steel or ceramic Mignon Faget oyster shells to put on the grill.

I buy my wife gifts; just not under duress or out of a sense of obligation.
Maybe a better lesson for your kids (not you specifically) is to teach them health lessons about spending money and not pissing away money on a bunch of worthless shite for Christmas. But then, I've been accused of being a tightwad (even though I really tip well).

I promise it wasn't me. I was the one who came up with no gifts in the first place.

Isn't this really a gift for you?
Posted on 11/30/15 at 6:04 pm to swamie

I just booked a vacation and ordered a bottle of wine from the SO's birth year, it will be a nice birthmas for her.

We do the same, except we also get our parents something. But we have 5 siblings and 10 nieces and nephews between the two of us, so we draw the line at our own kids and our parents.
