re: What are the reputations of the big injury lawyers in Baton Rouge within the law community

Litigation and deposition is for junior associates.
and even then it's rare
these firms are high volume on shite cases they settled before filing a lawsuit
they get 10,000, $5k claims to keep things afloat with the occasional big one (that gets referred out for litigation, typically)

Settlement/referral factories.

One of the firms is known for aggressive litigating. Look at which commercials are talking about how much the client got and which are the clients talking about what happened at trial.
So the ones discussing dollars are primarily "settlers"?
and the ones discussing trials are "aggressive litigators"?

If you are talking about the offices as a whole, there is a general reputation for each office. This is typically a reputation that is cultivated from the top down and is more institutional. And then the individual lawyers in that office also have reputations. Some good, some bad.
not a lawyer, but that's ^^^ the general consensus from lots of lawyer friends and lawyer family members here in BR. One of my good friends is a partner at a big PI firm in BR. Other attorney friends that oppose him occasionally say he is known for being smart as shite and a really nice, humble guy...now as for his wife...I guess opposites attract...
ETA: also kinda know Spencer Callahan through professional means. He is a really nice, super cool guy. Enjoy working with him. Other lawyer friend of mine hates him, calls him a prick a-hole every chance he gets...all because SC plays hardball at the table with the insurance companies that my other friend represents.

they don't necessarily have a reputation as a lawyer, per se. They do very little actual litigating, and mostly just run the business. You rarely, if ever, see any of them in court or at depositions.
This is correct. The "name" attorney typically never meets a client, files a pleading, knows where the courthouse is, or does anything other than manage the business (but not the actual practice of law). As such, they don't have reputations as lawyers, as they really aren't acting as lawyers.
Which always makes me wonder how they can advertise "hire me I'll get you money" when they never see a client or do any work at all whatsoever on a case. Isn't that a bait and switch?

A lot of it depends on the particulars of your case and your injuries. A lot of the big marketing firms will have a pre-litigation and a litigation department. Straightforward liability and non-complex injuries will most likely stay in pre-lit while the more serious injuries can get bumped to litigation.
Most of these firms will only take cases of clear-cut liability as well. On a macro level, it's a numbers game. I know pre-lit guys at Gordon who have two paralegals working on 200 files and they just settle with adjusters all day. There's not much lawyering going on there except just having the license to negotiate on someone's behalf.
But there are good lawyers as you move up the chain into the litigation department.

who cares about their reputation. They (along with others) have bastardized what was once a useful role in society.
There is a reason they all aggressively support Comrade Honor Code.

I think they're scumbags, but they have to be good at what they do to afford their operations.

Long story short, I had a guy run into me (on the MS River Bridge), we exited the bridge for safety, he lied about the wreck, and is now sueing me (and his employer, who's truck he was driving).
My insurance's attorney is repping me, but the more I consider the situation, the more I'm considering sueing him, (which will really be his employer's insurance I suppose.)
BTW, someone here supposedly witnessed the wreck. Feel free to contact me. white GMC pu and white flatbed with lawn mowers on it. March 2018

Never leave the scene. Take tons of pictures. It will frick up traffic but who cares. Better than getting sued.

I’ve been sued by most of them. Refuse to settle, and they back off.
