Agreed. You're almost better off just getting a 2BR place. There are 2 BRs in the same price range as the 1BR (non-studio). That's what I'm doing. I found a 2BR house in Capital Heights for the same price as a 1 BR apartment in the Gates at Citiplace

Yep. My *roommate and I were splitting $850/mo for a 2bedroom house with fenced in yard and all in Garden District.

* ex roommate.
I live alone now.

El Cid

Has a great pool scene, tons of honeys, and good security. The only choice IMO

had to search VERY hard to get that price, but $800-$850 is the norm for a 1BR unless you're looking at some of the nicest complexes around.

And that's incredibly dumb because way nicer cities have nicer apartments for less.

The rental market is nuts here, and prices at all our properties just went up again. I love when people from out of town want upgrades and space and tell me they can't go much over $600-$700.

Good luck finding that again. Rents in the Garden District are skyrocketing. I'll be renting one of the cheapest pads on the market and it's $1000/month

When I was at LSU we had the highest average rent of any sec town and prices have only gone up since then. Your best bet is to drive around and look. Take a whole day driving up and down streets in the area you want to live. That's how I found my 1 bedroom for $750. Other places were $900+ for 1 bedroom apartment. That's nuts to pay that and not be in a safe area and hearing ur neighbor go to the bathroom.

I'll rent you a 3 bed house for $1800/month(you find 2 roomates = $600/person) 1/4 mile from campus on Highland road by Stanford Avenue.

Agreed. That's how I found my 2 bedroom for 970 that I lived at last year. Too bad my roommate's mom is a dumbass and told him he had to move, only to change her mind after the apartment had already been leased to new people. Whatever, my new place is more expensive since it will be just me, but it's way cooler.
