What % increase to leave your current job

Weighing some opportunities at the moment. Trying to figure out my magic number that would get me gone.
What gets you to make a move?
I think mine is around 15-20% increase.

you should try and get 20% every time you jump to a new job
obviously there are a variety of factors to move to a new job. many non-monetary as well.

It would take 30% for me, as I would have to move to a new area.
I would take 20% if there were local opportunity, but there is a point of diminishing return. Going from 50k to 60k is much different than going from 150k to 180k.

I've maxed out where I'm at and nearing retirement, if I thought I would have to start paying my own medical if I stayed past tomorrow(as opposed to it being part of my pension package,) I'd be out of here, that shite's expensive

Depends, I travel a lot now.
So if the new job was say 15 minutes away from home, then probably less.
Also, overtime, holidays, and bonuses would play a big part as well.

All of these other factors are negligible.
Slightly farther commute, better health insurance, cheaper health insurance. Same upward mobility.
I like 20% for sure.

I'm thinking about it, but to start own business. Wife makes ton of money so could easily do.

I've been turning down 25%+ offers... if they get to 40%+ I'll really have to think about it.
I'm with an employee owned company, the retirement and profit sharing makes it hard for other companies to compete.

-10% would work for me right now.
Posted on 1/16/15 at 3:24 pm to BoogaBear
Probably 25-30%. My last two raises have been 23% and 20% at my current job, so I would need to see a little more to start over somewhere new.
20% with no travel might make me think about it, depending on the work.

lol private sector jobs have all the money
Posted on 1/16/15 at 3:38 pm to BoogaBear
25%--and even then I'd probably stay because the job security at my present place is extraordinarily high for my profession (advertising).

I'd go -10% or -15% right now, depending on the job and company.
Posted on 1/16/15 at 3:40 pm to BoogaBear
5% probably. Been moving around the country with literally no apartment for over a year now, and am getting tired of it, but I'm not taking an inferior position than I'm in now.

2 year severance retirement package would do it for me. I'm so over this working business.

This would also get me out of consulting... no more being the clients bitch for extended periods of time.
