Baw, as far as the actual topic of this thread and the fires in question, your headline is complete bullshite and has no bearing on the conversation.

And thanks for causing me to have to dig up that garbage link.

Those folks do an awful lot of stretching to piece that puzzle together.

So your explanation for all of the fires starting at the same time is that it’s just a coincidence?

pretty sure he is saying they didn't all start at the same time, the smoke becomes visible at the same time from satellite because wind picked up at that time and allowed the previously non-visible smoke to rise above the treelines and become visible.

Don't care about the video, but 85% of forest fires are started by humans in the US according to the National Park Service, so it isn't an unlikely bet that they're man made. Now, being on purpose is a different matter.

I thought it was already reported that it was a controlled burn that became uncontrolled

I know nothing about how forest fires naturally start

Ok, so self admittedly it could be anything? Something you cannot fathom/understand yet, because you do not know anything about them, right?

But nah, likely not what actually happened. Must be a conspiracy. Gets all the upvotes.

I know you didn’t say conspiracy, but you did at the same time.

The topic of the thread are the fires in the eastern part of Canada. The only arson case even remotely capable of being relevant that article points out are two small fires set behind a hospital in Nova Scotia which were extinguished almost immediately after being reported. The rest of their babble involved fires on the other side of the country, many of which were structure or vehicle fires set by a person who was arrested......last year. That suspect did set some wildfires last year, but I could find nothing that linked those to the major fires of last year's Canadian wildfire season.

The spirit of their article is one thing. Everything beyond that is garbage thrown together in a poor effort to prove a point.

Honestly, it looks like controlled burns. It happens all the time in the U.S. and everywhere else. To do a controlled burn the wind conditions have to be right. The right elevation, the right direction, and the right speed.

They do this on purpose to prevent wildfires. Hints the reason California always has such bad wildfires. They put a ban on controlled burns.

Now, thanks to new air quality standards, pretty much any controlled burn of any significance has to have EPA approval. There's a whole lot more red tape than it used to be.

Absolutely some of them were. Got a dear friend (retired Ontario provincial police), and living in Blind River, who visited with us two weeks ago. He said there have already been several arrests for arson, and the fines are not cheap and the jail time is not short.
