In a long list of things to care about when it comes to schools, diversity is near the bottom. If the school is excellent and just happens to also be diverse, then cool, a bonus. Actively seeking out diversity at the expense of things that actually matter in education is idiotic.

Much as I hate to see it, I agree. Used to live in Bucktown and still follow the neighborhood FB page. Things aren't great over there. Wonderful compared to what's over the 17th Street Canal, but not great and seemingly getting progressively worse.

Perhaps parental transparency, peer groups, and a more rounded education not based in political appointee-ism is more important to them than diversity.

Who gives a frick about diversity when you are trying to advance your child as much as possible into an uncertain future.

When you say "diversity" I am guessing you are only referring to "black"? My kids go to a private school with whites, blacks, Hispanics, and Asians. It is majority white, but guess what, and be prepared to have your mind blown...the country is majority white

This YouTube video was the end for me ever wanting to visit again. This is Canal and Bourbon. I believe it is a Friday or Saturday at midnight to 1am. Street brawl. A burnout contest on canal. It looks like the beginning of RoboCop. No cops anywhere. This is not 4am in some desolate part of NOLA.

That video shows the city is lost. I can remember a time in Nola where if you even looked like you were gonna pee on the street you were gonna meet a cop.
