Earthworms are unable to drown like a human would, and they can even survive several days fully submerged in water. Soil experts now think earthworms surface during rain storms for migration purposes.

What will be the long term effects of losing an entire population of soil enrichers?
I'm sure for every hundred you find, there are a thousand more ready to work, sir.

You don't think this may be a little different?
Nope, not at all. When the water goes down, get a piece of rebar about 3ft long, and another piece about a foot. Drive the 3ft down to about a foot and a half. Take the 1ft rebar and rub it up and down the one sticking up from the dirt. The worms that didnt die on your patio, will come to the surface.

Every time it rains at my house it looks like the worms decide to have a mass suicide on my driveway...... they come back every time though.

And on the 18th day of August in the year of our lord 2016, he arrived. The man who became known as the worm whisperer. Carrying two sticks of rebar, he drove through the silent streets amid much skepticism, but some held out hope.
