Weird knowledge spin off thread from air filter thread

Here's a little knowledge for you. The throw away air filter that has been used forever has a metal grid. Seems like a lot of metal wasted just to make holes for air to flow throw....eh? Well, those punched circles are about 1/32" apart. The air filter companies would buy the leftover punched sheets from soft drink and beer companies from which the bottle caps were made. Yep, and it's still being done to this day. No waste. Now you know. Weird knowledge from too many years in the HVAC world.

Because of molecules we are connected to the outside world from our bodies. Like when you smell things, because when you smell a smell it's not really a smell, it's a part of the object that has come off of it, molecules. So when you smell something bad, it's like in a way you're eating it. This is why you should not really smell things, in the same way that you don't eat everything in the world around you because as a smell, it gets inside of you. So the next time you go into the bathroom after someone else has been there, remember what kinds of molecules you are in fact eating.

So you are saying, smelling arse is eating arse?

The metal matrix for air conditioning filters seems much thinner than the metal on bottle caps.

My favorite mind-bottling fact, the more you use an air filter the more efficient it becomes at filtering air.

The acorn ant gets its name because entire colonies can live inside of an acorn. It is thought to gain entry to the acorn through a weevil hole. The colony can call a single acorn home for up to two years, only moving the colony once the acorn has deteriorated past the point of usefulness or is otherwise damaged.

When I was a kid we had some kind of electrified air filter that would zap the dust particles like a bug zapper. I've never seen one anywhere else. It was noisy AF which is probably why it didn't catch on.

Nope....although, obviously, over time everything made has become a little cheaper made. Still the same process though. The cap's strength is in it's design.
