how about a Stephanie against Jen comparison

Jenn everyday & all day long, and 2 - 3 times on Sunday...

Yeah, Jen is still pretty dang hot for a 50 year old with 2 kids.

Steph, on the other hand, has a horse face and a bad case of noassatall disease.

Weather Channel story, you know I got one. My sister, no pictures, went into a restaurant up in N. Ga. where she lives. Sees a young girl she knows, they are talking and the girl introduces her Dad. My sister said the guy was wearing sunglasses at the bar. She asked if he’d had surgery. He takes off the glasses, it’s Jim Cantore. My sister tells him we are from La.
Next thing she said, we are boiling Crawfish up here, you got an invite, he said he’s in.

We are moving to 6 sacks of select Crawfish next boil. The boiler I got will do 2 sacks at a time, so we good.
I bring all the seasoning, sister buys the crawfish.

The local aspect comes from hardware and ad-insertion systems physically owned and operated by local cable and satellite companies at their regional hub or headend sites.

With the mergers in cable, I wonder if the geographic areas for these local inserts have gotten wider too.

Just think of the Cox and Spectrum merger. Before Cox was most of New Orleans metro, and Spectrum was the Northshore and the Bayou area except for parts of Houma and parts of St. John with Comcast and South Lafourche with REV as primary cable providers.

Now that large part of the New Orleans DMA is now all Spectrum and can be fed from one regional headend, they could eliminate a few duplicate headend equipment needs like cable ad insertion and Weather Channel inserts.

As cable becomes more IP based, these localized services suffer as each channel is replaced with a unique local stream requiring encoding equipment for each location as it is prepared for distribution to a local area or to even smartphones if the cable provider provides those channels via its app.

Probably Jill Brown. Definitely one of my faves when I was @ Tech in the early ‘90’s…
