Its so so close. Drops as weak one then lifts but keeps formation then drops again. Maybe we all get lucky.

The fricking internet is amazing….being able to watch all these storm chases, local news live…
I cancelled YouTube tv until football season, so this gives me something to watch.

Looking like a close but dud tornadic night. Glad too, but the newsies are still going wall to wall coverage.

One shot from ground chaser showed a traffic jam of chasers on the road he was on. Its getting dangerous with too many rookie chasers clogging roads.

I would love to go storm chase sometime but god bless there’s too many people on the road and I can’t risk getting stuck in traffic with one coming. So many drive like idiots too.

Does look like it’s gonna be a close but not quite night. Not going to complain though.

My goodness, Val News9 chaser is fighting traffic while trained on tornado. Solid stream of cars and he’s passing them constantly. In this case its dangerous because he needs to navigate fast but can’t. Its like hundreds of rookie chasers impedimg a real chaser. As I type he just missed a car turning around right in front on a blind hill. Jeezus, these guys earn their pay!

Yeah, it ain't just the rookies. Even the "vets" are subject to get rolled these days. Too many idiots in general in storm chasing.

And it is nothing new. Blame the "rookies" if you want, but chaser convergence is a problem. It is exacerbated if it is anywhere near Norman and OU.

I'm not a fan of estimating the strength of a tornado, especially by on-air mets. I don't think it helps anything. In fact, I can argue it hurts more than helps. Estimating a tornado and saying "It is probably an EF-1" does a disservice in that it can give a false sense of security. Leave that to analytical mets to post on Twitter, don't feed it to the general public watching your coverage.

???

This was reported by News9 weathermen who do this for a living and are the highest paid meteorologists in the country. My goodness what is your problem complaining about weather reports tonight. Then sticking up for rookies impeding weather chasers who also are professionals and trying to do a great pubic service. And downvoting like anyone cares.

Everything I’m reporting is from News9 weather and NOAA/related casts

Yeah I agree. I know David is a former chaser and he’s probably not far off but I am not a huge fan either. Only time I think is when it’s obvious you have a very damaging (May 3rd 99 level) and you’re making a point of find cover or die. Granted I still miss the old Gary England days so I’m probably biased. David does a good job overall.

I don't care.

I haven't complained about anything. And this isn't the first time I have mentioned this.

The problem isn't just "rookies". You can keep saying that all you want. That doesn't make it a fact.

I didn't downvote you.

I know.

An on-air met should still not be estimating the strength of a tornado as it is ongoing. Feeding that to the general public is not good, in my opinion.
