So, in order to appeal to modern people and their accustomed moral decay the Church should go along with it more.

If it wants to continue to exist? Somehwat, yes.

No need to bend on everything but acknowledging that we are all sinners and therefore gays or women who have abortions are no worse in the eyes of God than any other sinner is a fair stance.

The church doesn't have to say being gay is right in the eyes of the Lord but I don't think its crazy for them to say while that is a sin, so is drinking too much and over eating. Who are we as sinners to say one sin is worse than the other in the eyes of God?

There are things you can adapt and compromise on, and things you simply cannot.

And if you don't sometimes slightly adapt to the things you can, you won't exist anymore.

All institutions adapt, all change.

The church has had multiple Schisms based on either changes they made or refused to make.

Its the nature of humanity.

Worth noting that at the end of this story, Jesus said "go, and sin no more." He didn't tell the adulterous woman "if you keep doing what you're doing that's cool too"

Yet when it comes to other sins this isn't an issue? Fat people go to church and the priest never stands up there and condemns them to hell despite that being one of the 7 deadly sins. I'm not saying the church needs to say its cool to be gay but they could also just not make it a black or white issue the way they do with most other sins.

You can get divorced. You just can't remarry.

And if you change that you're saying all of the existing marriages don't really count. That's not very kind or compassionate but for some reason you're ok with that.

I'm not stoning anyone. The Church should hold to its beliefs.

Why? What would that look like? It's not a sin to be gay, its a sin to act upon it.

Are you proposing we change Church doctrine or just say nicer things? Either way moral relativism is a bad stance.

the Bible is a Catholic book.
It amazes me how many Protestants don't know this because Pastor Billy Bob didn't tell them.

This has worked out real well for Lutherans and Methodists who now fly gay pride flags on their buildings. Absolutely despicable.

Think about it this way: we've had bad popes in the past, and in all of those cases it's not because they've been "too" catholic, but because they were not catholic enough.
