Many will now become Detroit which is a shame as so many with great effort had created at least some revival. All because of lazy and ignorant criminals.

Real activists know it takes time and commitment to foment real change. You cannot claim you want more businesses in underserved areas when your actions this week are going to cause many to never return and make the cost of returning too high for the rest. You cannot claim you want more money for issues important to you when you burn city property and cause huge bills for overtime for police, fire and ems as well as robbing the city of tax revenue from the destroyed businesses. You cannot claim you want more minority owned businesses when you burn those down along with the corporate ones. You cannot claim you want responsive leadership when you elect the same machines to office for 50 years and still the underserved live with bad schools, crime and poverty at the same level or worse for half a century.

The actions of animals the last week will not only result in a resurgence in white flight but of many middle class minorities who do not want to live in war zones where impetuous and ignorant people thing destroying their own city will change things. This will be a knife in the heart of many cities that will race to the despair level of Detroit. And the fools left will keep electing the same corrupt machines into office.

Maybe. Many of them have been revitalizing at breakneck pace compared to how they were in the 70s and 80s. I’m curious if this will slow that momentum.

One of the successes in many cities was getting groceries and drugstores to open locations in underserved areas. Even the ones that want to go back will not be able to afford the insurance it would require to return.

Indeed. There is a parallel to New Orleans in that there was an infrastructure there where a lot of companies could have come in to fill at least some of the void of the auto companies but the riots and political corruption kept them away. In New Orleans our location should be a prime place for a lot of companies but the corruption keeps them away. And, yes, I blame the lack of skilled and educated workers in New Orleans on that corruption.

Yes, but that is now very much at risk of a big reversal. Covid, a move to working remotely and now the riots and lawlessness makes these cities much less attractive. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

and cities love it b/c w/more figs they can spend less money on schools (I'm not kidding). Cities love queers and some even promote building of subdivisions that only have 2 bedroom houses, so large families won't move there.

I tried to get an expat job. Not because I hate our country, but to just experience the world. It’s not that easy.

That’s different than saying this country is shite.... there are a TON of hard working people that make this country great. However you have a race that thinks it’s Ok to destroy shite just because they are mad. I have zero problem with them being mad. I’m mad too at the dumbass cop that killed that dude. But I’m not tearing shite up. There is something very wrong with these riots and the people that speak about being leaders of said people are not asking for calm right now. If black people are mad at the cops then be brave and go to the police station and try your shite. There is zero sense burning down a mans livelihood.

That training was a partnership that required people in Alabama they could trust. Mercedes partnerships have done amazing things in building UA's Mechanical Engineering department above what it once was. Proactive and honest politicians create win-win deals. In New Orleans they only care about their end.

I have a 5 and a 6 year old that will get mad and try to break one of their own toys No different than the folks burning their own cities.
