We are thinking of moving to the 30a area when I retire.

Tell me what you know about the area. I wish my parents would have done this when I was a kid. We have vacationed here for years but we are ready to make it permanent. Any suggestions?

Definitely put one of those stickers on the back of your car.

No brag. I am definitely not a baller. I wouldn't be looking at a beach front place. Just something in the area. No state tax would help my pension, plus I will have a 14 and a 10 year old when I retire. They love the beach life as do I.

Do you have a 30A sticker on your Tahoe?

Not yet. I probably won't. I just like to chill out.

Honestly, the only negative that I see is the fact that your shite is gonna get wiped out by a hurricane every 15 or so years and regrouping from that is a lot more than most 75 year old folks can tolerate.....

It's very nice but a cat 4 hurricane will one day send it back to the sand dunes from which it came. Not even the Indians lived there. Just back up all your photos etc

Small 2nr flat in Rosemary. Not quite as crazy as SS. .....never mind. Just saw the kids. You can't afford Rosemary with those needs. Like many have said, it is VERY expensive.

Or, find one of the quaint lake houses near Seacrest.

Ok. How old are you?

Is this a "I'm in my 40/50's and retiring" #braggart?

Or did you have them later and you're 60+?

I ask this for a reason.

Market fluctuations occur yearly. Start looking early. My wife and I are doing the same

Although the area seems nice for vacation, it's Florida...Texas and Florida are the last two states I'd want to say I'm 'from'. Coming from someone who lives on MS coast.

Seriously?!

That's the dumbest shite I have ever heard......MS though, so I get it.

You travel in Florida much? My company is in Florida, east coast, but still...Florida folk are bit off...mix home school with beauty pageant and you get Florida.

I live in the area. Life is great, the only downside to 30a is the public schools are good but not great. I'm waiting for that to change or a larger private school to open, too much money in the area for them not to be very good. Outside of that, there are tons of housing options. Some very unique and interesting places to live though, there's exponentially more housing for locals than what anyone just visiting would know about.

Price wise, I'm guessing the more affordable homes along 30A would be around Dune Allen. They are older homes, not on the beach. Plus, it's on the end closer to Sandestin

I love to vacation at 30A but so do hundreds of thousands of others. To many people go there nowadays for me want to be a full time resident. I will probably retire somewhere in between Fort Myers and Naples.
