Makes no sense

It's a % of the registered voters in the area.

The people of NBR think it’s bad now. Wait until the funding from the taxes pulled in from SE BR go away. Gary Chambers & Silky Slim would loose their free money

It's these statements that make me wary of this going through.

I don't live in NBR but certainly don't want a significant tax base leaving the rest of us BRers holding the bag.

Take any of the other wealthy areas in BR and consider if they incorporated themselves, assuming it would be possible.

Not many people would support this, including the ones living in the proposed St. George area.

I'd much prefer lopping off NBR.

I wonder what Election Day the group is targeting? That's a big factor.

It doesn't matter. As soon as the petition is certified, the opposition will sue and delay it (but not stop it)

They have a new spinoff now. Called "ONE BATON ROUGE".

They support north Baton Rouge splitting off and creating their own economic development district. But they are angry when an unincorporated part of EBR parish wants to set up a city of St. George.

One BTR just shot themselves in the foot with the NBR crowd. they issued this statement on their FB page this morning.

Their proposed budget allocates funding to the EBRSO to increase the number of officers and build a new station

If only this were possible.

It would be akin to removing a cancerous growth from your body.

Broome, Chauna Banks, Silky Slim, Gravy, Murphy Paul, and the lot could have the chocolate city of their dreams.

And that's our choice. Right now what choice do we have? We can go ask the shetiff for help, and he could say yes or no.

If we are a city, we have legal standing. We could ask the sheriff for help and pay for it, or we could start our own PD.

We have options.

The together folks have their opinion, but look at all the folks that disagree; Baker, Central, Zachary, and now some in SG and in BR think otherwise.

The fact is while we have this CP system things aren't the same for everyone. Folks have different police protection and fire protection. The court system is different. Some live in a city and some live in an unincorporated area. Even the unincorporated areas have different set ups.

All around the US there are many examples of counties with numerous cities in each county. What SG proposes isn't a radical idea.
