Water in doorsill (F-150)

supercrew lariat. Had to drive through some high water on way home from gym last night. this morning when braking, i heard a water swishing sound.
checked passenger door sills. carpet is slightly wet, but not bad at all. water is like a half inch deep
should i just vacuum and paper towel this out, or should I bring it in and make sure there's not a bigger issue? the wires didn't seem to be wet

Vaccum it up and dry it out. Sounds like a door seal is worn out is all.

I've gotten water in the rear hatch of our 4runner.
Can't figure out how it's getting in, but it dries up in a day or two.

Stick some paper towels in there and figure out why it got in so easily (old seals)

4runner read doors are designed to take on and drain water. if you look closely on the underside of the door, you will see some weepholes that are probably clogged with dirt.

Had it happen in both f150s I've had for 2 different reasons. Carpet is going to stink bad for a couple of days. Leave the trim plates off and left the carpet up and stick something underneath to keep it up. It needs to dry ASAP. Leave the windows down or cracked if you can. Never had any wiring problems or any other issues at all after those incidents.
One was from a hole in the door seal and one was from a bad gasket on the rear brake light/ cargo light.

thanks marlo. the carpet isnt too wet, it's just a small section. ill throw a fan on it and hope it dries out. there was definitely a slight smell

The owners manual is long, and I didn't read it. I'll look for those small holes and try to free them up.

Dry it really well. Then go grab yourself a huge box of baking soda and dump in there.
It will kill the smell.
Something isn't right for it to do that.
