Watching NOLA Parades downtown

We got invited to catch a parade near Lee Circle Thursday night. (inb4 statue jokes)
Wife (no pics) and kids are going with the friends that invited us. They have a parking pass for me and I'm going to meet them there, will be coming from the West Bank.
I haven't see a parade down there since before Katrina. How long does it usually take to get there? Babylon starts at NAPOLEON and Magazine for 530 pm. Trying to see if I can get there for 730 pm and still catch the start of Babylon, but I'm more interested in Chaos and Muses.

If you are in Algiers @ 6:45, you should have no problem being at Lee Circle for before 7:30 if you parking is secured.

Put your kayak in at Algiers point, let the current run you down a little way and tie off near the Marketplace.
Probably 15 minutes in the River and a 10 minute walk.

The last time I did it was for Bacchus in 2004 and I was very, very drunk.
Some friends of ours work nearby (hence the parking pass) and swear by the spot. We shall see - I have my concerns. If it works out, we are going to go back on Sunday I think (again, have another parking pass secured).

yeah. I'm not as worried about getting there... just curious if I would miss the start of the 3 parade lineup.

I went to Lee Circle on Mardi Gras day a few years about half dozen years back. Homeland Security is/was based out of the gas station at Lee Circle, they had the property roped off and had a great setup, neighbors husband worked with them.
I never would have gone except for that situation. That said my expectations were way off, the Lee Circle crowds were much better that I anticipated. I took my little girl and her friend, out of the setup and walked all around between parades.

Not sure how long it will take you to get down there from the West Bank but the Circle Bar is a great place to watch parades. Cheap booze and $5 for an all night pass in the bathroom.
