Seems like empty Lakehouse is more trouble then it is worth.

If you have a Lakehouse how is the experience?

The 3 I have don't cause me any trouble.

They do require a little more. A few more critters, few more bugs, more humidity. It's not that bad but when something big is needed like a retaining wall repair/replacement, that hits the account hard

My dad has one on the water on Toledo Bend. We absolutely love it. He's there 3-4 days per week and I try and get up there at least every other week with him.

We both love to fish and have made some great memories together. I'll never sell the place so I will have those memories with my parents, and now and in the future with my wife forever.

Our family has one and we have folks that live within a 4wheeler ride so it’s not bad.

Almost bought one when I lived in North LA but then sat down and did the math on it. If you go every weekend, it makes sense. There were “lake people” in our subdivision that were enroute to the lake by 5:15 on Friday and didn’t return until Sunday night. If you want to live that way then go for it. But I realized we might use it once or twice a month. So it doesn’t make sense in that situation.

Keep the drive under 1.5 hours

Lake house culture is huge up in Wisconsin.

Decide if you are going to use it enough. Once a month is not worth it IMO.

1.5 weeks between uses except for long vacations. and 1.5 hour commute would be my rules.

Property values on good lake dirt has gone up about 40% since covid. Mostly because people want a place they can get away to that isnt super far away and doesnt require an airline ticket or 5 hours in the car.

the other angle to consider too is recreation. Lot more stuff to do on a lake for the weekend warrior than at the beach. Granted, im not a baw with a 35' contender with trip 300's out back but you get the idea.

We are looking into possibly building in a new development going up at Bass Lake at the SW entrance of Yosemite.

We are looking for property (small parcel) on Bell River or Lake Pigeon. Heck,we just want something around this area to lease.. Hopefully we can get a lease under 1K per year. Any recommendations?

Had one on Big Lake for a long time. It's great when there aren't hurricanes.
