Hey man, it’s capitalism. If you don’t like it, start your own business where you’re in charge of the hiring. Or move to China.

I find it hilarious this post received more down than up votes. It just shows the state of our nation as a bunch of victim pussies. I agree with this post. If you want to take control of your own life and stop getting laid off, then get off your arse and start a business.

I retired from a large company and keep in touch with some good buddies who still work thee. The company just told them that about a 1000+ employees are getting new job titles and the new salary tops are reduced by 15-20%. So, new job titles coupled with no raises for that targeted group means a Merry frickin Christmas and no raises for all.

I laid off 6 last week. It's only business, nothing personal.

I had to do RIFs the Christmas after Katrina. I quit by the new year. I'm hard core, but that cut me pretty deep.

Getting laid off sucks but it happens. The timing of this layoff is pretty unfortunate.

I got laid off from the library and was fine with it. The director who had to lay me off was crying and I had to console her, lol. ( I loved working there and would have never quit but I love being a homebody and housewife).

I know myself well. I know that every bad thing that happens leads to an even better , unexpected path in life. So I always focus on that.

I hope the people who got laid off will get their unemployment and be able to pursue a job that they like even more.

I wanted to work from home as a writer so I went for it. I jumped right into it and never even filed for unemployment. (I write web content and do a lot of research into subject matter, often on criminal cases).

We were hiring recently, probably have more people now than we've ever had since I've worked there.

We have laid off 600 over the past month. It is sad and that time of the year to make budgets.

Work for a marketing company.

CB&I in walker(pipe fab shop) laid off a ton of people this week. Not sure if that’s where the op is working but that’s one place laying off right now.

On the optimistic side, retailers are doing seasonal hiring. But you have to act fast to get them Black Friday hours
