Bought this Timex a while back after seeing an ad for it and have really enjoyed it. I think this was a limited style, but there are a bunch of Waterbury models out there that are similar. I get more compliments on this one than I do my more expensive watches. It just looks cool with the smoked glass.

G Shock. Handles abuse with ease and just keeps keepin’ on. I love them!

OP mention a price point yet??

I’m looking for less than a grand. Want something that will last but don’t want to spend too much.

I had a Luminox Recon Pointman years ago. I wore it daily for many years. The band broke almost instantly, replaced it once, broke again, then bought a cheap plastic link band from Amazon that lasted the rest of its use. I was working construction at the time so this watch saw a lot of hard use. Again, for a “navy seal” watch, it looked every bit of the wear it saw. I had a timex that held up better. Was very disappointed.

I posted earlier I had a gshock mudman. Good watch, but they are all too thick. I hit it constantly on everything and you couldn’t wear it under long sleeves.

I looked at the Traser someone posted earlier, that’s kinda what I’m looking for. Any other users? Does anyone have more recent experience with Luminox that can attest to their quality?

Edit: to be honest what I really want is this

But that’s a bit higher than my price point right now.

My opinion on the "under a grand" price point - i think thats where you get the most bang for your buck with quartz and the least bang with autos. The autos will all be SW200 or cheaper seiko movements which all are very cheap movements.

With quartz, you can get something like a marathon SS navigator for $1000, which checks all your boxes and will be insanely accurate and take much more abuse than any auto will. Now that I think about it, this is probably the perfect match.

SS Nav No Date

As someone who owns one, the $1000 price point automatics are by and large a ripoff. You can get a sub $500 auto with the same guts in it.

Casio G-Shock with resin band, solar charging and atomic time...had one for probably 15 years...wear it hunting, working in yard, on boat, etc.
