Yea, the hesalite probably isn't daily wearer. I agree with you, it does look cool.

Yeah, it also polishes out pretty easily.

The light scratches polish out easily with paste. If you get a deep gouge you are screwed because that doesn't polish out. Breitling uses an anti glare AR coating on their watches (both inside and outside) on the sapphire to alleviate the glare. BUT, it tends to give the watch a blueish tint which also sucks. The search for the perfect crystal continues.

Look at Marathon as well. Fun hardcore military timepieces. I've got the JSAR auto and love it. Now, if you're a dainty lad, they will swallow your arm (heavy/big watches).

$1300-1400 and worth it.

I almost thought Charles got the fricking of a lifetime until I re-read it and saw "auto"

I'd buy the bracelet but I'd never wear it on one. Leather with an Omega deployant is how I would rock it. Black for dressy, brown for EDC.

For a daily watch, hard to beat the venerable Seiko 5.

$50 on Amazon. I usually buy one about every three years because I'm afraid they'll stop making them.

Grab you some cheap NATO straps, and you're GTG.

nothing says "Hey I'm trying to look like I'm a pilot who needs this watch, but I am definitely NOT a pilot" than one of those clunky Breitlings.

That thing looks like a watch you would get with a bottle of teenage boy's cologne

That's an unbelievable price for a decently made automatic watch.

I have never found a Breitling that I would pay money for.

For a true pilot watch, it's hard to beat the Rolex GMT, for what a pilot actually needs a dedicated watch for.

RIGHT! Because this circular slide rule is shite for calculating air speed, fuel etc

Or this one that you can initiate Search and Rescue on the 121.5 or the 406 SARSAT. Those are straight up useless
