well that proves the point that nurses still aren't getting the basic respect
There's thousands of jobs that don't get "basic respect" but they don't go around acting grandiose about their jobs like nurses do.

Must be hard to be a nurse. I only worked >18 hours in the operating rooms the other day with no "breaks" aside from case turnover. Then again MDs dont work "shifts", but some nurse will be quick to say we dont spend time with patients or provide "holistic care", whatever the frick that is. Take your attitude back to facebook while you wait on punch out time and you can hit the door while doctors continue to save lives. Better yet, get back to me when you're carrying a pager and in the hospital nights, holidays and weekends.

Nurses are just as important to surgery as waitresses are to a meal.

You sound angry. Chill out.
I don't expect more respect than other jobs. Just acknowledgment that my job is more than just doing what a doctor does and cleaning up after patients. That's a view that someone very ignorant would have.

The bill is about protecting nurses from being subjected to mandatory overtime and to ensure they get the breaks they are supposed to get in a shift(usually the standard 12 hour shift most hospitals go with now for nurses in patient care)
Ask Gaucho about the 6 12s and 1 8 he's been working for the past 4 months.

Judging by this thread, nurses should stick to playing cards and not making memes.

Well considering your job doesn’t consist of c diff diarrhea or GI poop. Or witnessing a child die, or watching a 19 year old with all his life ahead of him seiz because of a brain aneurysm is taking his life or dealing with the drunk who can’t handle is liquor, or yeah Nevermind.
Shut the frick up.
Shut the frick up.

Or you are so short staffed you never get to even take a 30 minute break in a 12 hour shift and the hospital doesn't do anything about it.
A lot of my family works in healthcare. I worked in a 500 bed hospital, many years ago as a respiratory therapist. I can attest 100% to what you are saying, is fact. It is one the very reasons I left the hospital venue and pursued other avenues. Anybody who think hospital nurses have time to sit around and play cards, should do a little more homework before making asinine comments.

Last thing I want is an exhausted physician running on 18 hours straight.

Look it’s another doctor who thinks nurses don’t carry pagers and work 18 hours with no breaks?
My OR circulators work the same schedule as you ya prick.
And they carry a pager(oohhhh so scary).

I just asked a question, not mad.
I agree that y'all do more than that. However, I think nurses get so much shite on this board because of how high and mighty y'all act.
And maybe not you, but the majority.

You come across as a sad little man who's lack of self-worth requires you to keep a running list of professions/jobs that you convince yourself you are superior to. Your little bubble keeps you painfully ignorant.

Lol. Have yet to see a circulator/scrub who worked 18hrs without breaks, lunch, or end-shift relief. And carrying a pager "isnt scary" for the nurses on the night team... because they dont have to work the day before and the day after, dipshit.
