Mechanic came out today and labeled our 8 year old front load FUBAR. He recommended Speed Queen, but online reviews of the brand are all over the place. Anybody purchased one recently or mechanic wanna throw out any recs?

POF for hard workers and dish washers that could suck rust off a bumper.

We've had Kenmore units (washer and dryer) for 21 years. The washer had one repair, about 7 years ago that cost about $150, and both are still going strong.

Nothing fancy but does the job. I would say we got our money out of them.

Looking like I can get a Whirlpool with more capacity for half the price.

The repair guy told us to STAY AWAY from LG & Samsung. Also said the fancy electronic models cost about 2/3 the purchase price to fix. They clean your clothes and are hidden in the laundry room. I don't know why people spend $1200 on a single unit that doesn't last 10 years. To each his own I guess ?

Don't ever get rid of them. You'll be repairing or replacing the next ones every 5-6 years.

Had Whirlpools for 15 years with little to no issues. Bought a house with Samsung front loads included. First time these things hiccups they will be out.

Why you say this. They made some less popular models in 2018 but in 2019 they made the old school available again.

Like most electronics and appliances. Usually just a few major manufacturers. I know whirlpool makes Samsung, and Kenmore, I believe. They are all made to be replaced anyway. Find a deal on floor models. Who care if it’s dented, etc....

That's what we did. Saved 600 bucks on our washer/dryer pair about 10 years ago.

My dad still rents my childhood home out. Fridge, washer and dryer are all from the 80s and still work. All this new crap lasts maybe 5-6 years. I'm buying my next washer and dryer from an old lady garage sale or a pawn shop
