I'm always amused by people who don't understand that the concept of excessive force does not depend on what their personal opinion on the matter is

If I had to speculate. I would say that she was talking a bunch of shite to him and he lost his temper...if so, shame on him.

That's what it looks like based on the video. Don't know all the circumstances of the 'incident,' but obviously she wasn't armed or dangerous, & just looked to be drunk & belligerent. Seems like law enforcement personnel would be trained to know the difference & use appropriate force for each. ... Also, if an officer loses his temper when people talk shite to him, he probably needs to be in another line of work. Not saying resisting or talking shite to a cop is ok, but it happens, and how the officer reacts many times determines how much the incident will escalate. ... Also just not a good look for the cop -- just turn her around & cuff her, ignoring her drunken banter, & take her to jail. Ridiculous to have to do anything further. Cop lost control.

Not at all. She was resisting the officer (just like the thugs do who rightfully get kill't). Even if you're a sexy little flat arse blond, you still need to NOT resist an officer. If you think you're right and they are wrong - that's what the court system and law suits are for.

This.

You can't assault an officer. She won't do that again.

100% too excessive. If you are a cop, and you cant deal with a 105 lb drunk female in high heels without slamming her down, then you need to find a new occupation

I wonder if he asked her to cooperate? If he didn't ask her to cooperate first then I think this was excessive... cops should make it clear what they want the person to do. After that is clear the subject has the choose to comply or pay a price.

If she's resisting he can put her in handcuffs and let the court deal with it. Slamming her on the ground is unnecessary and will end in him being sanctioned or fired and a law suit.

often it's the case. My batting average isn't all that great but I take a bunch of trips to the plate.

Even if she's not exactly cooperating it shouldn't be hard for a trained cop to cuff her without much effort. The take down is completely unnecessary.

If a grown man cant strong arm this girl and put her hands behind her back and cuff her, then he isnt fit for the job imo

Serious question: how does he cuff her when she won't turn around?

Try asking in a nicer tone?

He's a grown man he can grab her arm and cuff her without much effort. Do you think it was necessary for him to put her in the stunner to get her in cuffs? Is that what you would do?

Willing to bet that a liberal use of the term often.
