Like I said... it was message time... the whole world knew at that time not to frick with America...... until 9/11 when we became TOO free.....

You mad, bro?
You're the one who started a thread that by clear implication suggests that Harry Truman and the United States needlessly murdered hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians.

So fricking stupid.
Yep. You said it, but, hey, your thread.

you must hate the USA
Since you are on the left side of the political spectrum, I think that's a rebuttable presumption at this point.

See I can accept that. Just don’t give me the million people would have died or the meaningless conditional vs unconditional nonsense

I won’t..... I see what you are saying there......

I’ve posted it in this thread twice. Why do I have to keep posting the same thing over and over?
What terms did the Japanese offer the soviets?

Surrender while keeping the emporer as a figurehead
Posted on 4/17/18 at 5:48 pm to Draconian Sanctions
No it’s really not...... there was a reason we did what we did..... lives came into play and a very strong message was sent...... they should have never attacked Pearl Harbor......
Posted on 4/17/18 at 5:49 pm to WaWaWeeWa
In the same link I’ve posted on here twice already

Right, to make a statement to Russia. Nothing more.

So, I must assume that you are unconvinced by the results of Okinawa. I have never analyzed evidence that convinces me of the fact the Japanese were just going to surrender without being militarily defeated on the home islands.
If you want to argue that, maybe, Nagasaki was a quick follow up shot and that we should have let Hiroshima speak for itself - maybe I can see some argument in that.
Let me ask another way - if the Japanese or Germans had developed the bomb first, do you think they would have had any hesitation in either using it or suffered any sort of crisis of conscience after doing so?

You are concerned about us leveling 2 cities when we had already killed more people and destroyed more cities with fire bombs
Why does it matter how we killed them?

Telling that y’all can downvote this but can’t answer it.

you don’t exactly open yourself up to having a good conversation by calling that line of thinking nonsense
Posted on 4/17/18 at 5:52 pm to Ross
Okay, how about I call it war time propaganda instead?
Posted on 4/17/18 at 5:52 pm to Draconian Sanctions
Wtf.... sorry dude... it was for them attacking pear harbor..... now if Russia noticed this then I guess you could be correct.... if we wanted to we could have done the same thing to Russia and they wouldn’t have done shite about it...... but at the time Russia didn’t attack us..... if they would have the world would be totally different today....
Posted on 4/17/18 at 5:53 pm to Ross
He's argued about this before on the poliboard and usually gets demolished pretty quick. He's not really open to "conversation", that's just the phrasing the left uses when they aren't quite getting their way.

Well i did mention Dresden earlier but for the purposes of this thread it’s easier just to look at Hiroshima and Nagasaki
