Was in Chicago for 2 days. It was 34 and people were talking about it being warm.

Saw no sun. It rained, it snowed, the streets were slushy. I almost busted my arse on the ice. And people were ecstatic that it wasn’t 10 degrees with a sub-zero windchill. Seriously?
And why is it that every bar/restaurant in Chicago turns the heat up full blast? You go from freezing to sweating your balls off in 10 minutes.
frick that, man. I don’t know how people live in these places. I truly understand why all the old Jews move to Florida.

It was 42 yesterday and I was thrilled. The day before the real feel was around 9.

Either they truly don't know any better or they enjoy the cold weather.

You get acclimated to whatever you're used to, ya know.

Somewhat.
People up north also struggle with SAD because of the perpetual grey and wet dreariness that are their days.

The worst of it is how early the sun sets this time of year. Leaving work when it's already been dark for an hour sucks.

I love the PNW, but I love the mild weather of the SE.

34 feels about like 70 if it's been below zero for a couple days.

I moved to Chicago in January 2014. The week I arrived the windchill was -49. NEGATIVE. FORTY. NINE. So yeah if you know anything about Midwest winters, 34 in January is pretty ideal.

Chicago is a shite hole. But would kill for that weather 24/7

My biggest problem is places that don't know how to manage temperatures. Yes, it's cold. It doesn't need to be 80 degree heat blasting. Also, yea it's hot out, inside does not need to be 60.

This was my biggest pet peeve about the north

All good. Still in NoVa. I am the proud grandad of a 15 month old baby girl. I trust that you and yours are well.

I grew up in Chicago and the weather never really bothered me much. You knew the winter months sucked and you just kind of adjusted to being inside most of the time. The only time I vividly remember Chicago cold was one morning in HS when the windchills were around -70 and they didn't call school. I was cussing in my car that morning.
That said, I moved down South at 18. When I go back up there for Christmas, I'm the guy in the car with his heaviest coat on, hunched over and shivering in the car cussing the weather. It's definitely a shock to the system if you aren't used to it.
