la cosa Nostra

There is no such thing. It does not exist.

I'm not saying he was.

I would just like to know how a man with that much money, political clout, and means to kill the president of the US; wouldn't be.

Other than the one word "no" answers.

The people who are discrediting his authority have no clue man, you have the facts in front of you. I'd stick with that if I were you, the know it alls on this board are hardly that.

IMHO, the Five Families of the NYC Cosa Nostra would all be more "powerful" than the NOLA la cosa nostra.

Back in the 1890s, the NOLA la Cosa nostra WAS the most powerful in the USA. As the 20th century progressed NYC's growth exploded. In 1900, you still had to take a ferry to get from the mainland to Manhattan's trade district. The Pennsylvania RR company finished the tunnel to Penn Station and opened Penn Station for train travel in 1910.

After that, NOLA could not keep pace with NYC's growth. NOLA's Sicilian population could not keep pace with NYC's growing Sicilian population. As such, the NYC la cosa nostra eclipsed NOLA and it remained that way.

Lucky Luciano was probably the most powerful Godfather of a Family of all time.

It was set up this way when Luciano originally formed the Commission. The heads of the 5 families of New York would have final say on all matters related to LCN throughout the entire country. But everyone still had to get final approval from the ruling body. However, I do think Marcello operated with impunity down here in New Orleans immune to the wishes of the Commission. The saying was true that other wise guys had to get permission first before even travelling here.

Yes, I've read this somewhere and assume it's true.

Read. It will help you in life. I never said anything about the muscle this man or his family have now.

If you don't recognize what I was quoting, I am sorry for you.

When Moe Green was arguing with Michael Corelone in Godfather I, he said this about the Corleone Family. Later, he got shot in the head. So, it was ironic. Or true. Take it how you want to.
