I spent the vast majority of 1984 in Korea. Let's just say that I'm grateful that the internet and Youtube weren't around then.

1984 was fine...but '86 and '87 were my "big 80's" years.

Lest we forget........

The year 1984 was the timeframe when Sunset Strip Hair Metal was gaining steam and becoming recognized as a major musical phenomenon not only in Hollywood, CA but all over the country.

The country still had it’s chest out in ‘84. It was a great time to be an unapologetic ugly American. We had swagger, held our head high as a nation and soy had yet to be invented.

I was a senior in high school in 84. I was lucky enough to get my graduation present early and was rolling around in this bad boy half the year.

dude... Van Halen 1984

Umm actually Van Halen recorded the 1984 album in 1983 and while it was released in January 1984, promotional copies of the album and singles were sent to radio stations in late November 1983. My uncle worked at WKBO and I remember getting a copy for Christmas in 1983 along with a Commodore 64.

The Olympics and presidential election are the only two things of note that you listed since challenger was in ‘86.

And the Olympics/election happens every four years. Seems like ‘84 was a rather slow year if those are the only things you could name.
