Should the cop have let the guy stay in the truck instead of asking him to step out and walk back to the car? Can any cops here confirm what the SOP is?

That was my thought as well. I don't understand letting that guy get out of the truck with the gun in his hand. shite, make him get out of the truck without the gun, and watch him do it.
I can't speak to police training, but I can't imagine that was the right way to handle that situation.
But that dude was a total POS, and he got the ending he deserved--being put down like the animal he is. Somehow knowing he got killed by cops doesn't seem fitting enough though after watching that video. He deserved the worst death imaginable.
