Becuase way too many things get ignored or brushed under the rug if they don't get attention. 10 years ago this girl would be shite out of luck and maybe gets some relief from a lawsuit a year or two later. Seriously doubt this was a one time lapse in judgment.

Can someone please explain what scholarship she recieved.

Is she going to Stanford on a full ride or something?

What massive scholarship did she have?

I have paid like 40 second of attention to this story and I even know what the scholarship convo is about. Go do just a little research.

Here is the scholarship in which she was expecting his recommendation.

ETA: Disregard. I need to get my info straight. I'll be back.

In order to qualify she had to hold the position for the entire school year.

I thought she was graduating in December and was enrolling in college in January

Disregard that. I was posting incorrect info.

Wait a minute now she said herself she was graduating 1/2 year. She wouldn’t even qualify based on that? On top of that only 2 students out of 558 high schools “win” this scholarship. It’s not even a given she would been chosen.

If you want to harp on the religious thing fine. But this “he took her scholarship” thing is ridiculous

Ive looked.

She had an endorsement for a scholarship revoked (now not revoked). Scholarships can be $500. I hope the discussion to take someone's pension is over a much more substantial amount of money than a couple grand.

The dollar amount is not the issue. This guy broke all kinds of rules doing what he did.

How do we know what was said in the meeting?

Did the girl record it all?

Here we go with the name calling again. You guys are so fricking immature and lost. You can't just present your argument and accept that someone may have another or simply disagree with them. You have to be the keyboard warrior and act like a 5yr old. You mind as well call us poo poo heads or something. At least make it funny.

I understand that he broke rules. I think everyone gets that.

He should not have spoke about religion etc etc etc etc

Are we really saying these rules that he broke are enough to take a mans (and his families) pension away?

You cannot ask questions that may illicit responses opposing other people's views. This is the case all over the state unfortunately. Its not really about fairness per say, its more about whos family is more popular in the area.

This thread is moving too fast. Do we know if he resigned or took a leave of absence?

I don’t agree with stripping his pension if he’s worked enough years to earn it. I do agree he shouldn’t be principal anymore.

That is exactly what they are saying. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear they were all former students where he was. And it's possible they were groped by him.

I mentioned the pension as a reach goal because he seems to be trying to weasel out of having made this mess and keeping his job.

That is something as a starting point to negotiating that can go if/when he leaves.

Sorry for the mixup earlier. Here is the scholarship recommendation he withdrew. The deadline was definitely Oct 3rd.

Was not for Tulane.

ETA: Now it all makes sense. It was a Senate Scholarship. She was SGA president. Dots connected.

Really disheartening reading this board and social media on this. No doubt he made a huge mistake but some people want to see this man absolutely ruined.

That link still says the student must be enrolled for the entire school year which she said she would not be.

I’m not sure what’s going on.

As far as his pension is concerned, it should be a negotiation point in the lawsuit. As long as he goes away for good, he keeps his pension. If he tries to be a slicky boy, all bets are off.

Also wondering what’s going to happen to Ms. Becnel?
