In the absence of an automotive forum, here we go on OT.

What is a fair value for a fully restored, ext/int, rebuilt motor, top condition beetle with a sound system, from an estate sale?

I know nothing about beetles but my wife wants one, her bday coming soon, and local estate sale has one.

OT, tell me what to do.

Probably more than you would believe, especially in the hippy Pacific coast area...

That's a Super Beetle. I'd only give $5k but someone will pay $10k.

Those things are all over the place on price.

One thing about them. They don't have heat. They do, but it is worthless.

The older ones had 6 volt systems. Not sure what year they changed, but my 66 was 6 volt, and my 70 was 12 volt.

Does that thing turn into a 20 foot tall robot warrior, because that's gonna highly influence my answer.

Looks like a dual port 1600cc engine with Solex 34 carb and the original generator. There should be heater hose connected to that pipe under the Bosch coil. Main thing is to look for rust under the back seat where the battery is located, heater channels, floor boards, around and under back seat windows. Pics make it look to be worth around the asking price. Inspecting it in person maybe not

I would flash 4,500 cash and see what happens, but the asking price is very fair if rust is minimal and the motor purrs.

I swear, you must have the only one ever built.

Both of them I had would freeze you to the seats.

Had one I modded out some. Had a add on till cooler with some engine tweaks and a 2 barrel carb. Can't remember the carb ManF, but it drank gas. Pegged the speedo needle on the stop on the Causeway. Guessing 110 or better. Went through 3 shells for obvious reasons.
.50 to .60 cents a gallon gas at the time.

Mikuni 34's, sound right?
