They have been bought by the Chinese. But the Chinese are infusing them with money and letting them operate independently.

got one of those for the old lady a few years ago(she had been driving an Escalade,) she hated that thing so much(as did I,) that I took it back to the dealer after a couple of days and got her another Escalade

My old 2008 V8 XC90 rear main seal started to go at 80,000 miles. And its a little cramped for a 3 row SUV. Loved it other than that of course the oil leak was a big deal.

1) It is hilarious how safe these things are: Youtube Link.
2) I drove one back-to-back with a Supercharged full-size Range Rover, and regardless of price I preferred the Volvo.

Drove the xc90 and levante same week and xc90 blew it away. I was not impressed with levante and actually came away really disappointed, the ride was terrible

That's incredible. I drive a Cayenne (just the V6). I thought it had the best interior in the world until that test drive. Felt dated afterwards.

Just bought in that class of vehicle and I tried to steer my wife to the xc90. But one of her friends just got one and she didn't want to seem like she was copying. Well, it's a good thing women are crazy like that, because her friend has put the thing in the shop several times apparently. I think they were trying to return it under the lemon law or something. Same experience a cousin had with Volvo. It really is a well laid out car, but not reliable at all.

I'd be curious to the life of the compression rings on this arrangement.

Also the xc90 I believe has the best safety features beisdes for JeepGC, but you have to buy the extra side airbags and those get recalled fairly often

That's pretty crazy considering that Volvo's are known as on the most reliable cars in the world.

My wife has XC60. Its quite expensive to maintain. New set of tires will run you upwards of $1600 for base models. Oil changes are well over $100. Misc. parts are all higher than your average car.

Subaru are better.
