8000 IU / day.

That seems like a lot to take in one day. I have a bottle that is 1000 IU per, and it says to take one per day.

Mine was fairly low awhile back and my doctor put me on 50,000 IUs a week. I usually just take one on Sunday. I had been slacking a bit as of late but am back on schedule with it.

from what I’ve seen in a simple google search, 400 IU to 4000 IU is the recommend range. You can go over 4000 IU I would guess but I wouldn’t do more than that without a doctor telling me to. I think at walgreens and other stores like that you won’t find over 2000 IUs but I’ve seen up to 5000 IU at Whole Foods. So obviously you can take more than 4000

My son takes 50000 IU per week also. He has an autoimmune disease. I’ve never asked his doctor why she prescribed it but given the OP it makes sense.

So, if I go drink gin and tonics, take vit D at the beach and don’t let my BP get high while remaining Caucasian and age under 70 I should be covid proof

Right?!?! It's almost like we haven't already discussed why that isn't exactly a solution in this thread already.

I’m 59 and the only Isley I have is high blood pressure which is under control. I also started taking 50,000 iu of D In addition to a daily vitamin and it’s barely Gotten me in the normal range. Also I drink 8 oz milk a day and spend a lot of time outside though I do wear clothing that blocks UV rays

A doctor once told me that this doesn't really help much because when we're outside we have most of our skin covered. He said that getting 10 hours of sun on 10% of your body is no where near as good as getting 1 hour on all of your body. He also told me that if you're getting enough sun to fill your vitamin D needs then you will have skin cancer problems. I said that it was counter intuitive that nature worked that way, and he told me it's because nature never intended us to live past 50.
