I need to check on our rental home, but the wife want to spend an extra day to see her family. When we were suppose to be in and out headed to our vacation destination for Thanksgiving week. I HATE going back am I wrong, but to turn it into a mini 3 day vacation tricks me off.

Your wife will ruin you financially if you you don't get control of her. Divorce her or suffer the consequences.

You’re missing some critical punctuation in here.

How often does she get to see her family? I live over 1000 mi from mine. It sucks to have to make most of my “vacations” trips to see them, but it’s easier for me to travel than it is for them. I see her side of wanting an extra day if she doesn’t get to see them often.

If your hometown is an hour away, then I’m on your side.

You need to go back and re-enter 3rd grade.

Grow up it's a message board for Christ sake. I've probably made more doing business than you can dream of 3rd grade that

We went back in April or May to take care of our businesses for a day. They just left here about a month ago. She talk/facetime almost every day. We live 7- 8 hrs away

She’s not asking for a day to catch up with old boyfriends. She’s asking for one day to see her family.

You can win this battle, but you’re going to lose the war if you play hardball on this issue.

Yes, you probably did make more than I dreamed of when I was in 3rd grade. I totally agree with you

I live on the other half of the planet from mine, and would be pissed wasting precious time back in the states on that shite unless it was agreed upon beforehand.

That’s the real problem here. I don’t see anywhere in the op where it was discussed prior to making thanksgiving plans. A woman’s miscommunication causes yet another argument. Water is wet.

Exactly. This was my main point on living close to home. Who wants to waste vacation going to Louisiana. Vacation is for going to other places that you have never been before or great places like Europe, Bora Bora etc.. Plus, you already have the best babysitters close by you...your family. Being young, single, and making good money is one thing. But once you get married and have kids you hit a non stop continuous grind of work and kid stuff. After you start a family only a very few are living a grand lifestyle out of state. Most are basically doing exactly what they would be doing if they lived in Louisiana except spend time with their own family.

One of the radio guys i listen to in DFW is from the Cleveland area and so is his wife.

They have two kids and he says when they go back to visit every summer/winter, they fly in, rent two cars, and he goes to visit his family for 3 days and she visits hers for 3 days.

She will take the kids for the first two and then he gets them for the last day so both grandparents get to see them.

Pretty genius. Said they've done it for 20 years and its great.
