the best part of LSU was that it seemed segregated from the rest of baton rouge.

My wife and were talking yesterday and out of the dozen or so good friends we had at LSU not one of them has a child that attended LSU, all went to other sec schools etc. The biggest reason we think is the crime. i wouldn’t let me son go because of that

Broome’s community friendly police force in conjunction with LSU’s woke folks.

Easy pickings

Crime is out of control in Baton Rouge because the mayor and chief of police don't care and have no fear of losing their jobs

It was in the early 80's as well, but a much different criminal environment. Back then, the criminals were arrested, jailed, had a trial and went to prison. Today the woke crowd interferes and there's no accountability.

I love LSU but sadly I'll probably encourage our youngest to go elsewhere for college. I don't want my then 18 yr old daughter living on her own for the fist time in Baton Rouge.

I wouldn't let my kids anywhere near that campus. If the liberals on the inside don't get them, the thugs on the outside will.

I think the police were also profiling more. I miss those days….. It was definitely safer.

Good thing they got rid of the BRAVE program

brave team couldn't/can't even takedown NBA and TBG even though they're saying exactly who killed who and why in songs with 10s to 100s of millions views on youtube

Maybe it would be safer for the students to resume virtual classes.

Arguably? It is the only draw. I can’t think of any other ‘draw’ that BR offers as far as bringing in outside money, tourism, etc.

If LSU is lost, BR is lost.

This is true. The ONLY damn thing I miss about BR is going to LSU football games.

LSU needs more cops on foot and bike patrols. Maybe horses too.

Keep messing with LSU Students & the livelihood of this State & MAYBE they'll buckle down on crime.

But I doubt it

I think BRAVE was good in working high crime areas where the people who received a visit from them needed to know they were there.
- example drug dealers working a street
deter the buyer from coming into the are when they see the vehicles
- Had an Uniform Patrol come down a street where I had rental homes and saw an officer come in for a call.
That officer would have been outnumbered by gun fire.
He was coming with a pea shooter not knowing he was setup to get taken out.
I called Chief Leduff and other people called 911 for the officer to pull back.
Brave came in to give Uniform Patrol back up locked and loaded.
Stopped a gun fight by coming in with the force the came in with.

- kids getting off a school bus fighting where you are dealing with 10 to 15 kids plus parents.

I agreed the program did some good and thank those officers.
From me saying anything good about the BRPD says a lot.

In an area where you want to Catch a predator.
LSU campus is a large are and around Highland and the North gates have alot of vegetation along with a lack of lighting.
You would have to have officers on horse back or electric vehicles that is quiet to cover this area well.
This is an area that is hard to patrol by a normal vehicle.
